Reading and Language Arts



The goal of teaching reading in the Lawrence Public Schools is to develop independent, life-long readers who are able to gain understanding from a variety of texts.  This includes instruction and ongoing assessment of the reading process.

Curriculum K-12

The K-12 Reading/Language Arts curriculum is aligned to the Kansas State Reading Standards and is written by content/grade level teachers in cooperation with the District Curriculum Division.

Curriculum is written and adapted to meet the diverse needs of the students in our district.
